FOUNDER and PRESIDENT: LAURENCE MAHER
Holding a bachelor's degree in Radio/TV/Film (with a minor in music) from
the University of North Texas, Laurence went on to establish the
company: Acton Video
Productions. AVP specializes in film and video at every level,
including commercials, narratives, weddings, and event videography.
Trying to make the difficult transition into movies, Laurence later formed
the independent film production company AMP ENTERTAINMENT, under which he
wrote, directed, and co-produced his first feature, ALMOST. His second
feature, the action-thriller RECEIVER, is currently in post-production, and
his third film, a feature horror, is in the works.
Laurence has written and directed an abundance of short films, was the
director of photography for several shorts and features, has written and
recorded a full-length pop music album, and is the author of many short
stories, two novels and a large number of screenplays. His hobbies include
weight training, martial arts and playing trombone. 2006 will mark the
premiere of his absurdist Web/TV comedy series, ONE CHEAP MOVE.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER and WEBSITE ADMIN: SCOTT POWERS
Scott holds Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Science from
Ball State University. He has worked in the computer industry for more
than 13 years as a software engineer. His career started at the National
Center for Supercomputing Applications (a government funded group associated
with the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana) where he was lead engineer
for several projects, including Mosaic and HTTPd (first web browser and
web server). From there he went commercial with a company called Raindrop
Geomagic which works in the 3-d engineering space. After leaving RGI,
he did website consulting and worked for the family business, Concept Keys,
Inc. At present, he's very happy working for Pointwise, Inc., while also
Exec. Producing and building websites for AMP Entertainment.
